Operation HOPE Stonecrest
Many individuals and families in low-to moderate-income households across the nation are wary of the home buying process, and feel that homeownership, a fundamental piece of the American Dream, is out of reach for them.
The focus of Operation HOPE’s Homeownership Program is to empower individuals and families and help them become homeowners. The process starts with a homebuyers workshop that provides an overview of the process. From there, our HUD-certified coaches walk clients through the purvhasing process.
HUD-approved housing counseling program helps clients overcome a variety of common barriers to homeownership, including bad credit, lack of down payment, existing debt, and money management. Homeownership uplifts communities and creates engaged stakeholders. According to research by the National Association of Realtors, the wealth divide between homeowners and renters is significant with the net worth of the typical homeowner being between 31 and 46 times that of the net worth of the typical renter.
Through Operation HOPE and PNC Bank we are transforming the lives of DeKalb residents. In September 2019, I brought HOPE to DeKalb and since that date we have provided over $7 Million in down payment assistance and counseled over 3,000 DeKalb residents increasing their credit scores an average of 40 to 60 points.
